CONSERVATIVE SEAT LOST. United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. Received Friday, 7 p.m. LONDON, March 21. The Eddisbury by-elcction, following on the death of Sir H. Barnston. resulted:— R. Russell (Liberal) 10,223 Colonel Fenwick Palmer (C) 8,931 Major Sir H. Barnston’s Conservative majority at the last general election was 1669. LOCAL archSnol thaaM John Foster, aged 44, a stock buyor, was found dead yesterday at Matawhero. He had appeared to be in robust health, states a Gisborne message.
Government Retains Bath by Handsome Majority
LIBERAL IS RUNNER-UP. Received Friday, 7 p.m. LONDON, March 21. Owing to the death of Captain O. T. Foxcroft, Conservative member for Bath, the by-election resulted:— C. IV. Baillie Hamilton (Con.) 11,171 S. R. Daniels (Liberal) .. .. 7,255 G. G. Desmond (Labour) .. 6,359 Tho general election resulted in the return of the late Captain C. T. Foxcrift with 16,067 votes. The Liberal candidate, Mr. F. W. Rafferty, scored 8800 votes and Captain W. B. Scobel (Labour) 3914.
