Mrs. J. McLeod, of Palmerston North ■ is visiting Masterton. by the Rev. J. E. Parsons, who will speak on “Paul’s Sure Persuasion.” Mrs. St. John Hindmarsh of Napier is at present visiting Palmerston North. Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Collins of Porangahnu are visitors to Palmerston North. Visiting Palmerston North at present are Captain and Mrs. Baker of Waipawa. Mr and Mrs. J. M. Saunders were Wanganui visitors to Palmerston North during the races. Miss McLeod, Hastings, is the guest of Mrs. F. J. Nathan, Linton Street, Palmerston North. Miss Audrey Kowett, Cambridge, is staying with Miss Molly Goldingham, Palmerston North. Miss Nellie Goldsack, Woodville, has left for Wellington to commence training for the Salvation Army. Mrs Shailer kindly donated some beautiful dahlias for the table decorations at yesterday’s meeting of the Manawatu Women's club. Senior Sergeant and Mrs. Quartmain, of Dunedin, are fho guests of Mrs. C. J. Erenstion, Ferguson Street, Palmerston North. Miss Marjorie Bennett, of Palmerston North, who is training at the Kari* tane Hospital, Wellington, is spending a holiday with her parents, Mr and Mrs. G. H. Bennett, Roy Street, Palmerston North. Apologies were received from the following at yesterday’s meeting of the Manawatu Women’s club, llfisses McLagan and Thompson, Mesdamcs Thompson, Mouldey, Tapp, Sinclair, Hampton, Cameron, Free and Tycrman. Visitors welcomed to the Manawatu Women’s club yesterday afternoon were Miss • Matthews (Gisborne), Miss Neylon and Mesdames Hay and Tucker (Palmerston North) and Mrs .Tyer (Foxton).

Last Wednesday evening, the ladies of the Willard- Sewing Guild, and several young friends took the opportunity of giving Miss Marjorie Gibbs, a former member of the Guild, a surprise kitchen evening at her home at “Te Puke,” Terrace End, on the evo of her marriage. The evening was spent with music, competitions, and last but not least, the opening of the parcels of useful gifts, with their comic quotations and good wishes, brought a very pleasant evening to a close.
