FUBLIC LIBRARY. From Our Own Correspondent. The annual general meeting of tho subscribers to the library was held ou Saturday evening, Air B. G-. Hutton presiding. Also present were Alesdanies Parker, Davis and Hutton (secretary); Revs. F. AT. Kemptliornc and F. J. Parker, AFcssrs. Brewer, Grammar, Hunt, and Taylor. The annual statement of receipts and expenditure which was adopted, showed a small credit balance on the year's working. Efforts arc to bo made to increase the membership, it being pointed out that many local residents are not aware of the good service obtainable at the library for a nominal subscription each year. It was decided that no books be issued to members whose subscriptions are one week over-due. Tho following officers arc appointed for the ensuing year: President: Air G. R. Taylor; vice-presidents: Alessrs. W. Vi N. Brewer, and W. Grammer; hon. secretary and treasurer: Aliss D. Brewer; committee: Alcsdamcs Davis, Orgias and Parkcs, Rev. Ivcmpthornc and Rev. Parker. Aliss Doris Brewer was elected an honorary member in recognition of her services as librarian during the year. Eulogistic, reference was made by Rev. Ivcmpthornc to the services of the retiring president and secretary, Air and Mrs. Hutton, who are leaving Ihe district shortly. Airs. Hutton in the capacity of secretary, had controlled the financial side of the library's affairs and was deserving of much credit for the efficient manner in which she had carried out her duties. 'flic speaker concluded by moving a hearty vote of thanks to Air and Airs. Hutton. In seconding the motion, Air G. R. Taylor endorsed Air Kemptliornc's remarks, pointing out that it was largely duo lo the efforts of Air and Airs. Hutton that the library was re-opened about six years ago.
