CHINESE FAMINE RELIEF LIST

TO BE OPENED IN PALMERSTON NORTH. The Mayor (Mr. A. J. Graham) haß received the following telegram from Mr. G. A. Troup, Mayor of Wellington: —“The estimated number of victims of the famino in China is sixteen millions. Immediate financial assistance is desired. The Chinese Consul here is appealing on behalf of countrymen and is receiving generous support. 1 have opened a relief fund and tho National Missionary Council of the Dominion is appealing to churches to arouse interest. Tho Prime Minister has offered to arrange the transmission of funds collected. I shall be pleased if you will co-operate and open a relief fund in your district.” In accordance with the request, Mr. Graham has opened a fund, donations to which will be acknowledged through these columns.

Yesterday morning Mr. Graham in terviewed the local Chinese residents, who have undertaken to raiso funds themselves through their own channels.
