SEGRAVE WINS FIRST SPEED BOAT CONTEST
MISS AMERICA VII. RETIRES Australian Press Association. 1 Received Thursday 7 p.m. NEW YORK, March 20. At Miami Beach, Miss England won the first 12 mile heat in the speed boat record contest, when Miss America VII. was forced out in the third two mile lap with a broken quadrant, after averaging approximately 54 miles per hour. Major Segravc finished tho heat in the lapsed time of 12.08 minutes. Wood, who was leading before the mishap, expects to bo ready to enter the final heat to-morrow. The best he can do seems to be to tie with Segravc and that is not certain, unless Segrave breaks down himself.
