WILKINS PLANS TO FORECAST WEATHER

Antarctic Stations WILL PREDICT SEASONAL CONDITIONS EVERYWHERE TEN YEARS’ PROGRAMME. Australian Press Association, Received Thursday, 9.5 p.m. NEW YORK, March 21. Sir George Wilkins, in addressing the British Chamber of Commerce, outlined bis ten year plan to establish 12 weather observation stations in Antarctica. Ho said he believed the data collected by the Argentine government from tho present station in Antarctica would show a direct relationship between the meteorological condition in Antarctica and conditions in Australia, California, Egypt and the Argentine. Ho added: “We can expect from a number of stations in Antarctica a comprehensive idea of the mechanism of the weather in the south and from that, we believe it will be possible not next year, nor perhaps in fivo years, but some time in the future, to forecast seasonal conditions.”
