CHINESE WOMEN ABROAD
A Chinese woman writer notes that girl students, returning to China, carrycharacteristics of the country in which they obtained their education. Those who have studied in America usually become doctors or social workers. Franco sends them back “free in their thinking,” while Russia has a tendency (o make them revolutionists, even communists. It seems a pity such Chinese girl students cannot, in some cases, take their higher education in New Zealand! America’s three thousand Chinese students include many girls, and the number is continually increasing. This is largely • the result of a brief measuro passed by the Nationalist party in that country. “Position of women: Legally, educationally, and socially, women are to be the equals of men.”
