COUNTRY HOTEL DESTROYED BY FIRE
Per Press Association. WAIMATE, Last Night. The Makikihi hotel on the main highway ten miles north of Waimate was completely destroyed by fire last night. The firo started in the kitchen and fanned by the strong southerly wind soon demolished tho old woo'den structure. Only a small safe and a few articles of furniture were saved by the licensee (Mr. A. Cullings). Details are meagre as telegraph and telephone wires were destroyed. The insurances are not available.
