TOWN BOARD. From Our Own Correspondent. The usual monthly meeting of the Town Board was held on Monday evening when there was a full attendance, with -the exception of Mr A. Trenkner, who had been granted leave of absence. Air A. C. Eades wrote for a renewal of liis billiard saloon license —granted. The secretary of the Boxing Club (Air A. GY Eades) applied for the use of the Town Hall at the same charge as last year.—Granted. Intimation was received from the Minister of Internal Affairs that the alteration of the statutory half-day to Thursday had been gazetted. Air John Aird wrote asking for permission to install a kerbside benzine pump.—Granted. On the motion of Air E. J. Arnott it was decided that the board seek legal advice regarding their responsibilities in the matter of accidents occurring through korbsido benzine pumps by lire or other causes. Air A. Simonson was granted £3 for the use of his liorsc for Town Board purposes. It was decided that 10 per cent, bo added to all outstanding rates on Alarch 25, 1929 and that legal proceedings be taken for all rates outstanding on Alarch 28, 1929. The board decided that the roads bo closed for grazing purposes on Alarch 31. The chairman remarked that the stock on the roads had been a great inconvenience and caused much damage to property. t Accounts amounting to £55 12s 7d, were passed for payment. Presbyterian Church. Special services for the Harvest Festival were held in connection with the Presbyterian Church on .Sunday last, attendances at both services being excellent. The Rev. Air. Grundy conducted the morning service, while Rev. Brown, ALA., of Palmerston North, was the preacher for the evening. The collections exceeded those at previous festivals which is very gratifying. A sale of produce was held in the Alasonic Hall on Alonday evening at which the attendance was good. Alusical items were rendered by Ailsa Buchanan, Alyce and June Hajicox, Joyce Oaverhiil, and Alessrs Ncilsou, Brown and Whitelock of Tiakitahuna. Mrs. H. Voss, of Longburn, presided at the piano. The sale was a success iinancially. A dainty supper was served, after which Rev. Grundy thanked those who had contributed towards the function and a. very enjoyable evening was brought to a close with the Benediction.
