YOUNG NATIVE MISSING
THOUGHT TO HAVE BEEN DROWNED. Per Press Association. GISBORNE, Last Night. The police received word to-day that an eighteen-year-old native named Tapimi Pauhamu, of Ruatoria, was believed to have been drowned in the Waiapu river. Pauhamu left Wbenia* tua at 10 a.m. on Monday to ride to Ruatoria and his horse was found near the Ruatoria racecourse at mid-day that day. Tho police were informed and a search has been proceeding over since but no sign of the missing man has been found. Heavy nains have been experienced up the coast, and the Waiapu river is running high.
