2YA OUT OF ACTION IN HEAVY GALE
Worst For Years AERIAL CARRIED AWAY, Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Last Night. A north-westerly gale at Wellington to-night caused tho broadcast station 2YA to cease transmission. At 7.45 a, gust carried tho lead-in away and It fouled the towers. The men sent to Roseneath to effect repairs had great difficulty in approaching the station owing to the wind which, it is stated, is the worst since the station was erected. The station ceased transmission at 8:45 for repairs. About an hour later the aerial proper was carried away. •
