Fruitful Policy

BREACH OF BRITISH PREFERENCE SYSTEM

EXTENSION LOOKED FOR. United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright. Received Tuesday, 7 p.m. BERLIN, March 4. Tho success of Germany’s foreign trade policy is interpreted as a breach in tho British preference system. It is hoped similar arrangements with other Dominions will follow.

The Other View

SOME SUGGESTIONS IN HOUSE OF COMMONS. Received Tuesday, 7 p.m. LONDON, March 4. In the House of Commons, Sir Robert Thomas inquired whether Mr. L. C. Amery, in view of Empire development, tho resuscitation of British trade and the provision of employment would approach the Dominions with the idea oi Imperial co-oporation in Public Works, such as docks and railways. Mr. Amery, while anxious to promote practical development, doubted whether such an inquiry would serve the end in view.

Sir R. Gower inquired if the Government would approach the Dominions, to adopt something similar to the Empire Marketing Board, in order to promote the sale of British goods. Mr. Amery said the Government would be glad to see such schemes in operation, but the matter was not one whereon he could initiate suggestions to the Dominions.
