PEDESTRIAN KNOCKED DOWN BY MOTOR CAR

ACCIDENT NEAR HOSPITAL. An accident occurred in the vicinity of the public hospital at about 2.45 o’clock on Sunday afternoon, when Mr Louis Sehultz, son of Mr. A. E. Schultz, of Heretannga street, was knocked down by a passing motor car. Apparently the driver of the car was having trouble with his gears and in his preoccupation, failed to perceive the pedestrian who was walking on the extreme left of the road. Mr Schultz on his part did not hear the car until it was right upon him, with the result that he was knocked, down and severely bruised by the bumper of the machine. The driver of the car pulled up and took the injured lad into the hospital, whence he. was later removed to his home. He sustained no serious injuries, although he is suffering from the effects of bruises and shock.
