A MODERN BOWLER

“GOOD BOY GIORGI.” Visitors from all parts of tho Dominion and from abroad, who play on the Palmerston North green are unstinted in their praise of its surface. This is due to several causes, among which are tho age of the green, the attention it has received from the green superintendent and the caretaker, but largely also to the constant voluntary help of -a No. 3 player, Mr U Giorgi, who in the intervals between his turns for play, has removed every weed on the green with the small blade of a pen-knife. Since the season opened in October last, it is estimated that ho may be credited with the removal of from 2000 to 4000 tiny weeds, mostly plantain, hawkweed, and dandelion. The result is a fine surface, a lasting sole of healthy grass, and the gratitude of all who play on it.
