TOBACCONIST’S ENTIRE STOCK TAKEN BY NIGHT

INSULT ADDED TO INJURY. Per Press Association. NAPIER, Last Night. Almost the entire stock on tho premises of Mr. Frank Whisker (hairdresser and tobacconist) in Hastings was stolen by burglars some time during the weekend. Mr. Whisker left the shop locked and barred on Saturday night and on returning this morning, ho found the drawers opened and tobacco, cigarettes, pipes, toilet articles and in short, almost everything movable gone. Only a small box of articles, which the thieves themselves had packed, was left. Even scissors and razors had been stolen and this morning Mr. Whisker had only two or three razors which he had at home, as his stock in trade with which to begin business.

Tho burglars apparently attempted to force the door with a crowbar and chisel but on failing, smashed a panel and undid the lock.

Besides making an obviously unhurried and painstaking clean sweep of the stock, the intruders left a note, in which, after informing "Dear Sir," they were strangers to the town, asked him not to inform the police too soon ®f tho crime.
