VERY HIGH PRAISE FOR NELSON COLLEGE CADETS

BY BRITISH OFFICER. STANDARD EQUAL TO THAT OB THE - GUARDS. Per Press Association. NELSON, Last Night. Major Eady, liaison officer from tho British War Office, paid a unique tribute to the Nelson College cadets after a special inspection. He said he had heard a great deal of the position and prestige of this company but what he saw exceeded all his expectations. “The standard of training is quite unique in my experience,” he said. “The opening parade would have compared favourably with either of tho two military colleges in England, or the best Guards Battalion. What struck me most however, was the wonderful spirit throughout all ranks. There was a “kick” which is only found in units where the very highest traditions are maintained. “Further it was remarkable to se« cadet N.C.O.’s handling squads in the manner of the most experienced drill sergeant at Home. In fact this was the most striking aspect of the whole parade. It is quite obvious that the training of cadet N.C.O.’s.in this way must do a very great deal to develop character, a sense of responsibility and power of leadership and must be of the greatest benefit to a boy whatever profession or trade he may enter in later life.

“Nelson College undoubtedly possesses a tradition of infinite which tho present generation appears to be living up to in the highest degree.”
