Mr G. A. Wilton, of Te Awe Awe street, returned from Tokaanu on Sunday after an enjoyable week’s fishing. Mr J. A. Williamson, of Dunedin, was welcomed at yesterday’s meeting of tho Palmerston North Botary Club. Mr McLeay, of Napier, director of the Richardson line of shipping, spent the week-end on tho Palmerston bowling green, while en route to a conference in Auckland.

The Mayor, Mr. A. J. Graham and Mr. J. B. Hardic, town clerk, leave to-diay for Wanganui to attend tho Municipal conference which is being held there. Mr. Graham will bo back in town on Thursday.

Mr. J. J. O'Shea, stationmastor at Palmerston North, leaves to-day for Wellington to attend a conference ox senior ° stationmasters. A number of important matters will bo discussed, including tho question of building new passenger cars.

Mr B. Stevens, of Pohangina, is enioying a week’s holiday in Auckland. He writes of “Tho Treasure House” at Titirangi as one of Auckland’s star attractions, and says the zoo claims thousands of children and adults as ardent admirers.

Mr Andrew Guy, who has recently returned from a trip to England, yesterday took his seat on the Manawatu Drainage board for the first timo since his return. Ho was extended a welcome by the chairman of the board, Trustee P. J. Small.

Mrs Doris Elizabeth Grayson, who was an occupant of ono of the cars involved in the motor smash on Napier road on Sunday evening, was subsequently admitted to hospital suffering from broken Tibs and contusions.. Her condition is not regarded as serious. Mr and Mrs Charles Gannaway, of Wellington ,are visiting friends in Palmerston North. Mr Gannaway for many years held a responsible position in tho Postal service. It was he who carried out tho first railway mail van service in New Zealand between Wellington and Wanganui about 42 years ago.

At last evening’s meeting of the executive of the Manawatu Cricket council, the resignation of Mr. H. Von Stunner of tho Old Hoys club, was accepted with regret. The secretary was instructed to write to Mr Von Stunner, expressing tho council’s appreciation of the interest and assistance he had always given to cricket in the Manawatu. Mr Von Stunner has been transfered to Foilding, and his place on the executive will be filled by Mr. Lloyd Pacey.
