MACHINE GUN VENDOR TRIES TO SELL POLICE BULLET PROOF VEST

“Machine Gun” Louis Wisbrod, who claims fo have taken the first machine gun to Chicago gangdom, was iu Now York recently trying to sell Police Commissioner Warren a bullet proof vest.

“I sell machine guns, tear gas bombs, pineapple bombs, bullet proof vests, and all such necessities to the police of Chicago and other western cities, and also to the gangsters and racketeers,” Louis explained. “I thought I could do some business here. “It’s my first visit to New York and I don’t like this town as well as Chicago. Your laws on firearms are so strict I couldn’t make a good living.” Found at Commissioner Warren’s more or less private headquarters chatting with a crowd of police officials, this unofficial ordnance supply officer for western police and gangsters was at first loath to be interviewed. “I don’t like to commercialise my fame,” lie said. Louis forthwith opened a small sample case, rovealing a tear gas bomb, a “pineapplo” bomb with electric wires attached, several gas billies, and other arsenal equipment. “How many machine guns arc there eround Chicago? Well, every gambling club and roadhouse has at least two mounted for action. And all the gangs have ’em, of course. There must bo several hundred machino guns in the towns, just outside Chicago. Say, don’t you know that just about every house in Cicero and Chicago Heights has a shooting range in the basement?”
