CONTAMINATION OF RIVERS BY REFUSE
WELLINGTON, Fob. 28. A conference of rangors, curators und Marine department officials to-day resolved "This conference views with grave concern the menace of pollution of our rivers and the importance, of taking stops to prevent pollution altogether, rather than to penalise such offences; that the authorities controlling acclimatisatod fish in these waters should have power to tiecido what kinds of effluent from factories etc., be allowed to flow into rivers and also that before new factories are erected, the disposal of barred effluents be arranged for, so as not to contaminate rivers.’*
