CROQUET TOURNAMENT
Progress was made in the playing-off of the various events at the Manawatu greens yesterday, and the first round of play is almost completed in most, cases. Tho second round is progressing very satisfactorily.
Results are: — : Handicap doubles, second round: Mesdames Turner (4) and Hhcrwood (6) defeated Mesdames Tapp (5) and Hodgson (-5), 26—22; Mesdames McDonald (5) and Langford (54) defeated Mesdames Gambrill (1-*) and Robertson (34), 26—15. Handicap singles A, first Tound: Mrs. Spring (4) defeated Mrs. Patterson (5)229;6 —9; Mrs. Simpson (5) defeated Mrs. Sherwood (6), 26—10; Mrs. Hodgson (5) defeated Mrs. McDonald (5). 26—21. Second round: Mrs. Jamieson (5) defeated Mrs. Richardson (64), 26—10; Mrs. Fuller (5) defeated Mrs. Tapp (5), 26—19. Club pairs, first round: Mesdames Campbell and Gambrill (Manawatu) defeated Mesdames Mayes and Garner (Northern), 26—19; Miss McFarlanc and Mrs. Langford (Takaro) uefeated Mesdames Lynch and Jennings (Raetihi), 26—16. Champion singles B, first round: Mr*. May defeated Mrs. Sigley, 26—10; Mrs. Glendinnihg defeated Mrs. Torstonson, 26 —11. Handicap singles B, second round-: Mrs. Simpson (54) defeated Mrs. Lcgge (54), 26—11.
