Tho newspaper Airways, in discussing the Channel tunnel scheme points out that tho tunnel would be easily vulnerable to an aerial attack. A flight of bombers could wipe it out within a few hours of the declaration of hostilities. Moreover, a tunnel would be of little value'commercially. Tho paper adds that it would cost £60,000,000 when completed aft<?r ten years, and at the end of that time aerial transport would be at such a stage that those dreading a crossing by steamer would automatically take a speedy air route.
