MOTOR COLLISION

ON AOKANGI ROAD. Shortly after eleven o’clock on Saturday morning Aorangi road, at the intersection of Gladstone street, was the scene of a motor collision. Mr. Jackson, electrician of Forgusson street, was driving his truck out of Gladstone street on to Aorangi street, when he was suddenly called upon to avoid a collision with a fast travelling high powered car which was approaching Feilding. The driver of the car jammed on his four wheel brakes causing the vehicle to skid for some distanco and then to slew round and end up on the footpath very little the worse for the momentary contact with truck, which fared badly. As the car skidded past, it caught the truck a blow which tore a tyre olf and severely wrenched the steering gear. Mr. Jackson was able to control his truck and bring it to a standstill on the grass over the road. Had ho not speeded up in an effort to avoid a collision, a serious smash -would have resulted.
