GARRISON BAND
PLAYS ON SHOWGROUND TO-MORROW AFTERNOON. Bast Sunday evening, the Palmerston North Garrison band gave a concert in tho Opera house which by virtue. of the excellence of the performances, surprised the audience. Tomorrow afternoon, a further opportunity will bo afforded tile citizens of hearing their band, and as the members will be leaving immediately afterwards for Wanganui, it will bb the last occasion on which the band will bo heard prior to the contest. Undoubtedly a band sounds at its best in tho open air. Tho committee has therefore approached the A. and P. association which has granted the free use of its grounds. The band will play the quickstep and the test selections set for the A grade championship, as well as the hymn test and solo selections.
An appeal is made to the public to turn out in force on Sunday afternoon and by its presence and financial support, show the band that it has the best wishes of the community for its success at the contest.
