RED TRIANGLE DAY

(To the Editor.) Sir, —Permit us through the medium of your valuable columns to stress the importance of Red Triangle Day to the community. It is the one day of the year that every citizen of Palmerston North and the residents of the surrounding districts have each an opportunity of giving financial assistance to that most worthy institution, tho Y.M.C.A. Every year the Board of Directors are faced with a deficit in the year’s working of the Y.M.C.A., which, year after year, swell the overdraft at tho Bank, becoming thereby an increased interest bearing charge. This year the Directors hope by an intense effort to clear this year's deficiency and pay off part of former years’ debt accumulations. Palmerston North has set a high standard to tho other Y.M.C.A. ’s in tho Dominion, particularly in the amount raised by the physical department, and while the interest of the young people is being held, we want more financial help to keep our finances flourishing. To-day young ladies will wait on tho business community in their offices and premises, also on the streets, and the directors will be glad if all those who arc not elrcady assisting financially, will give a generous response to the appeal npw made.—We are, etc., A. J. GRAHAM, Mayor; JAS. WALLACE, President, Y.M.C.A.; T. R. HODDER, Chairman of Directors.
