PRESENTATION
AU REVOIR TO MR. C. F. JEFFS. Members of the staff of Messrs John Cobbe and Co. gathered on Thursday evening to bid farewell to Mr. C. S. Jeffs who leaves with Mrs. Jeffs, on March 12 on an extended trip to England. Mr. Jeffs was the recipient of a solid leather travelling bag and Mrs. Jeffs of a New Zealand rug. Mr. A. E. Wilson, who will act as manager during Mr. Jeffs’ absence, expressed in suitable terms tho sentiments of the staff as to their appreciation of Mr. Jeffs as manager, and good wishes for a successful trip.
Mr. R. F. Haybittle added a few words, and Mr. Jeffs, who was taken completely by surprise, said how deeply he appreciated tho act of the staff and all that it meant to himself and Mrs. Jeffs. He had been looking forward to this trip Home for a long time, and ho hoped not only to have, a good time but also to do some useful work for the ‘'House of Cobbc’s. ”
He went away confident that the staff would rally round Mr. Wilson. On his return in seven months’ time he hoped to meet them all again and tell them something of his experiences.. Three cheers for tho departing guests concluded a pleasant function.
