Apiti
From Our Own Correspondent.
A gathering of ladies was held. on Tuesday afternoon to meet Mrs. Sugden, president, and Mrs. Stalker, secretary and treasurer of the Feilding branch of the Plunket Society, for the purpose of forming a branch in Apiti. Mrs. Sugden outlined the various matters that would interest the new branch, such as cost of transit of the nurse an'd general subscription. It was decided that the Plunket nurse should visit Apiti regularly every month where she would meet mothers with their babies at Mrs. Cantwell’s residence. The following officers were elected:— President, Mrs. W. Wilson; vice-presi-dents, Miss Leslie, Mesdames McKay, J. Malono, H. Osborne and McKenzie; secretary and treasurer, Mrs. P. McG. Murray. A large representative com mittee was also formed to assist in the work. . .
A vote of thanks to the Feilding ladies for coming to Apiti was record
Tennis.
During the week-end a very delightful tennis party was held at. the residence of Mr. and Mrs. 11. Watson. A gathering of some of the best players of the district resulted and they enjoyed many games. The day was fiuo and the excellent grounds were seen to their best advantage. Eve in Arcadia.
A party of the young ladies of the district, feeling the call of the wilds and desiring a rest from tho enigencies of house-keeping, have gone ihto camp in one of our picturesque gorges. The picture presented to one’s mind is of these delightful nymphs flitting among the sylvan glades. some time and was slow to get away.
