FIRST ASSISTANT IS APPOINTED TO GIRLS’ HIGH SCHOOL
The appointment of Miss A. Eastwood, M.A., as first assitant at the Palmerton North Girls’ High School was made by the High Schools Board of Governors on Tuesday evening. Some excellent applications were made for the position which had been created by the appointment of Mis M. Rhodes as lady principal following the demise of the late Miss P. Hodges. Miss Eastwood has had 20 years of teaching experience, and was educated at the Wanganui Girls’ College, whore she was dux in 1904. She took her M.A, degree in 1900, and for sixteen years was associated with the Nelson Girls' College, finally assuming the position of senior resident mistress, and on one occasion being acting-principal. For the last two years she has acted as senior mistress at the Stratford Technical High School. The matter of additional appointments to the staff was dealt with in a report by the principal on the present conditions at the Girls’ school.
