BAY OF ISLANDS

MEMBER WILL NOT OPPOSE PETITION. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, Last Night. Tho hearing of the petition against the election of Mr. H. M. Rushbrook as representative of Bay of Islands electorate will not he opposed. An intimation to that effect has been received by Messrs Russell, Campbell and McVeagh, solicitors for the petitioner, J. W. McAulay, an elector of the Bay of Islands. As the onus of proof is on the petitioner, the Electoral Court, consisting of Mr. Justice Herdman and Mr. Justice Ostler, will sit to bear it at Kaikohe on January 28, as arranged. The absence of opposition will probably have the effect of shortening the proceedings.
