WATERFRONT RIOTS IN ADELAIDE
POLICE BATONS KEEP ORDER. Australian Press Association. Received Tuesday, 11.5 p.m. ADELAIDE, Jan. 15. Consequent on yesterday’s wharf riot the police are now strongly guarding the volunteer labour. There were isolated disturbances today. One volunteer was roughly handled but the police batons had a salutary effect on the would-be assailants who complain bitterly that there is no work offering while Italians are available.
The shipowners representatives declare the rioting will make them all tho more determined to employ southern Europeans.
