JAMMED IN DOOR IN ESCAPING FROM FIRE
MAN FATALLY BURNED. UNDERTAKER’S PREMISES AT TE KUITI DESTROYED. Per Press Association. 1 TE KTJITI, Last Night. As the result of an explosion of a blow lamp,' a fire occurred in the twostoreyed, wooden premises of A. Blackmain, an undertaker, at 10 a.m. to-day. The fire completely destroyed the upper portion of tho building and contents, comprising a cabinetmaker’s plant. Amos Augustus Avery, a plumber, who was working in the building with Mr. Blackman, was jammed in a door whilst attempting to escape and was shockingly burned all over the body. He died at 1.15 p.m. Mr. Blackman escaped without injury. The brigade had a hard fight for over an hour before tho firo was suppressed. The building is insured for £275.
