CHEESEPARING METHODS ARE SOURCE OF DANGER

“PATIENTS SHOULD GET VERY BEST.” Two matters which have been the cause of much heart-burniug on the part of a certain local body, were referred to by Sir J. G. Wilson, chairman of the Palmerston North Hospital board, yesterday, when extending a welcome to tho Minister of Health, Hon. A. J. Stallworthy. “There has been muck criticism/’ observed Sir James, “of tho way in which hospital levies are collected. -I must confess that when I came onto thq County Council 30 years ago, I was concerned about the amount that was being spent on tho hospital. We wero then anxious that our money should go onto the roads. When the demand came for an increased levy, we folt that there must be something wrong. However tho time came when I changed my mind. Likewise, when the chango of representation from nomination to election was mado, I did not agree, but now I recognise it was the correct move. The administration of a hospital is an expert’s business and I am satisfied that with the nomination system there ■would be a danger of cheose-parlng when it came to the question ,of spending money. . . “It is the duty of the public to find tho very best equipment (with duo respect to economy) so that patients may become well again,” continued Sir James. “The public does not know of the amount of attention patienls get in our hospitals.”
