Freiburg, in Germany, claims to have the first and oldest- woman doctor in Europe in Dr Matlfflde Theyssen, who lately celebrated her 90th. birthday. She attended wounded soldiers on the battlefield during the Franco-Prussian War, two generations ago, and was twice wounded in doing so.
