DIET IS USELESS AS CANCER TRUE
SEVEN TO ONE AGAINST. LONDON, Jan. 5. “The majority of lecturers scare their audiences by telling them that one in eight will die of cancer. I prefer to tell you that you have a seven to one chance of not dying of cancer. We seldom get such odds in ordinary betting,” said Dr. Cecil Rowntrec, surgeon to the Cancer hospital, in an address to the London School of Nurses. He said that he thought that- although cancer was increasing, there certainly need not bo the same fear as formerly, because there was now a much bigger chance of cure. “It is impossible,” ho said, “to suggest that a special diet or mode of living may prevent cancer, for nobody really knows what eausos it.”
