TEACHING ATHLETICS IN ITALIAN SCHOOLS
GOVERNMENT MONOPOLY. LONDON, Jan. 4. The Rome correspondent of the Times says tho Italian Ministry of Education has sent a circular to schoolmasters instructing them to give gymnastics and athletics a proper place in the school curriculum. Tho government, through tho Opera Nationale Balilla ,will exclusively control sports for children under 14, and by taking over all snorting fields and recreation- rooms, "will control tho physical education of youths of from 14 to 17. After that the militia will take over the training of its members, but specialised education will be entrusted tp the Olympic Games committee.
