Robertson (imitation trombone), West (mouth organ) and Rikiana (Spanish guitar). Favoured with ideal outdoor weather, Palmerston North railway servants, with their families and friends, journeyed to Ashhurst yesterday by special train for their annual picnic. In spite of the atmospheric sultriness, the sports events were keenly contested, while many took advantage of the swimming facilities offered by the Manawatu river. The hundreds present were unanimous in their conviction that the day was one of the most enjoyable yet. The picture theatre staffs also spent an enjoyable community outing at Tangimoana.
