FOUR KILLED IN MOTOR SMASHES IN NEW SOUTH WALES

Four people were killed and 16 injured in two big motor smashes yesterday The worst accidont occurred on tho Blue Mountains road at Lawson. A large tourist ommibus, containing 22 sightseers and holiday makers, collided with a telegraph polo while trying to avoid a collision with a private car. The bus was badly damaged. Miss Annie Haig, 36, of Fitzroy, Melbourne, and Miss Isabel McPadyen. 35,' of Mosman, Sydney, were both killed. Three other women passengers were severely injured. The second accident was also responsible for two deaths, those of Mrs Gay, aged 61, of Granville, and Thelma Healy, aged 3. It occurred at Paramatta road, Flemington, two. cars crashing head-on. The dead victims were going with others to the cemetery to attend a funeral. Among the injuries are three fractured skulls.
