Weddings

WAUGH—MARTIN. ‘ At the Baptist Church, Feilding, on December 31, the marriage took place of Lenorc, third daughter of Mr and Mrs E. Martin, of Feilding, to James Francis, eldest son of Mr and Mrs J. Waugh, of Maagawcka. The Rev. C. D. Gardiner officiated. The bride who entered the church on the arm of her brother, Mr. R. J. Martin, looked charming in a dainty froek of ivory georgette' and wore an embroidered veil,. arranged with bandeau of orange . blossoms. She earried a lovely bouquet of St. Joseph lilies, cream carnations, roses and asparagus fern and. was attended by her sister Miss Hazel Martin, who wore a pretty frock of pale blue crepe de chene, with black crinoline hat and carried a shower bouquet of pink carnations, pink heather and maiden hair fern. Mr William Gcdye acted as best man. The reception was held at the Carlton tearooms where a dainty wedding breakfast was served to 50 guests and the usual felicitations offered. Later the happy couple left for the south, the bride travelling in a frock of navy and red crepe de chene with hat to match and smart coat and fur.

THO MAS—N OEIDL. St. Paul’s Church, Broadway, was the scene of a very pretty wedding ou Wednesday. January 2, when Ivy Sylvia, elder daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. A. Noedl “Ahuru” Aroha street, Palmerston North, was married to Frank Charles, eldest sou of Mr. and Mrs. Thomas, Aberdeen road Gisborne. The Rev. E. Parsons was the officiating minister and Mr. C. East presided at the organ. The. bride, -who was given away by ber father, was daintily gowned in a raadcl longsleeved frock with fitting vandyke bodice and full skirt with shadow hem. Her tulle veil was pleated fanwisc across the back and fell in graceful folds to form a train, while a sheaf of lilies completed her ensemble. The Misses Margaret Montgomery-Williams of Hawke’s Bay, and Margaret,Malcon (cousin of the bride) were bridesmaids, the former wearing a model frock of mauve georgette with circular frills on either side of the skirt, and the latter wearing primrose georgette with similar trimming. Their headbands which matched tlieir frocks were of flowers and tulle pleated fanwise across the back and both carrying muffs of yellow and mauve violas made by a friend of the bride. The best man was Mr. L.' Stannard and the groomsman, was Mr. R. Thomas (brother of the bridegroom). After the ceremony a reception was held at the Broadway lounge tvhen 80 guests were entertained. Mrs. Noedl received ■ her- guests wealing a modei black georgette frock with coloured trimming and hat and scarf to match. Her bouquet was of red carnations and maidenhair fern, the colouring matching her frock perfectly. The bridegroom’s mother, Mrs. Thomas, wore a frock of lido blue chenille ■ with grey hat and shoes to tone and carried a bouquet of pink carnations and maidenhair fern. Later in the afternoon Mr. and Mrs. Frank Thomas left by car for the north via New Plymouth, the bride travelling in a model beige suede georgette frock with small hat to match and fox fur.
