Addington market was resumed today after the holiday break, but mainly on account of the handling of holiday traffic affecting the transport of stock, entries in all sections were small. Store sheep comprised a mixed lot, nearly all being dry sheep. The demand for all classes was on a par with the pre-holiday sale. -Best 4,6, and 8-tooth crossbred ewes made 30s to 34s 6d; ordinary ewes and lambs to 21s; inferior ewes and lambs to 15s 6d; good 4, 6 and 8-tooth crossbred-wethers to 295; ordinary 4, 6 and 8-tooth wethers, to 255; ordinary 4, 6 and 8-tooth halfbred wethers 23s 6d to 25s 6d; ordinary 2-th halfbred wethers 23s to 255; backward halfbred wethers 19s to 225. The fat lamb entry comprised 6/0 head. The freezing works are not reopening for a few days and butchers’ needs being much reduced, there was a slacker sale, values being down on pre-Christmas market by a halfpenny per pound. Extra prime lambs fetched ■to 34s lOd; prime lambs 31s to 335; medium 28s to 30s 6d; light 25s 6d to 27s Gd. Store cattle enjoyed a good sale for a small offering. Good cows made £6 to £9; others £2 to £5 10s; bulls £4 to £8 10s; 18 months heifers to £5 16s. Dairy cattle. Cows at profit were wanted. Best second to fourth calvers made £l2 10s to £l6; medium £9 to £ll 10s; others £6 to £8; heifers £7 5s to £lO 10s; backward calvers £6 to £9. Eat pigs had a small entry. Porkers sold well, but baconers, especially heavy sorts, met with littlo inquiry. Choppers made £2 10s to £5 16s; baconers £2 13s to £3 15s (average price per lb. 5d to Gd.); porkeTS £1 15s to £2 12s (average price per lb. 64d to 74d.) Store pigs had a small entry, but met with a weak sale, few buyers being present. Wcaners mado 4s to 9s; stores 9s to 18s: large stores 20s to 235; extra large to 265.
