MOTOR ACCIDENT HAS FATAL END

Death of Foxten Young Man i j The death occurred at the Palmer- j ston North hospital yesterday afternoon of C'liver Anderson, who was admitted on New Year's Day as a result of injuries received when the car in which ne was travelling capsized into a swamp near Sanson. Deceased, who was IS years of age, resided with his parents at Foxton. He was cne of party returning from the Marion races, the car in wdiich he was travelling being driven by Mr. J. B. Coley, of Foxton, who was accompanied by his wife and daughter and one other passenger. While proceeding along a stretch of road near Sanson, Mr. Coley’s machine was struck from the rear by another car and capsized into a swamp beside the highway. Although the car was badly damaged, all of the occupants escaped injury, with the cxcep tiou of Anderson, who had to be removed to hospital. INFANT CHILD KILLED. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, Last Night. A motor-ear accident at Otaua, near Waiuku, resulted in the death of the infant son of a Mrs. Wilson, who was on a visit to Mrs. Sam Bright, of Otaua. The car was being driven on the main road toward Otaua, when one of tho tyres blew out. The car skidded and capsized. The other passengers escaped with shock and bruises. MOTOR CYCLIST DIES OF INJURIES. DUNEDIN, Last Night. Whilst riding a motorcycle from Palmerston to Dunedin this afternoon Henry Percival Whyborn, a farm labourer, 21 years of age, was thrown heavily from his machine. He was picked up unconscious and brought to Dunedin Hospital where ho was found to be suffering from severe head injuries, but despite treatment ho died at 7.15 this evening. His parents reside in Salisbury street, Kaikorai. WOMAN KILLED IN NEW PLYMOUTH. NEW PLYMOUTH, Last Nihgt. Amabella Hughes, aged 52, wife of William Hughes, a storeman, w'as killed in a motor smash to-night. The car was full of passengers and apparently Mrs Hughes was sitting on tho knee of another in the back scat. The car left the road and plunged into a ditch. The jolt threw ..Mrs Hughes out on her head. She was dead when tho doctor arrived. None of the other passengers were injured TWO INJURED IN EARLY i MORNING SMASH. HOKITIKA, Jan. 2. A collision between two ears at two o’clock on New Year’s morning at a street intersection resulted in both cars being considerably damaged. Four occupants of one car were injured, Pearl Olson receiving concussion, Albert Williams a broken collarbone, and the others severe shock. Both drivers wore uninjured. DEATH OF ANOTHER VICTIM AT HOROTIU. HAMILTON, Jan. 2. Mrs Lindsay Anderson ,aged 25, of Auckland, who was injured at the level crossing accident at Horotiu, succumbed this morning to her injurios.
