Wintry Prospect An intense depression of the "westerly type was crossing Now Zealand today. A moderate anti-cyclone is moving from the westward on to Eastern Australia.. Expect strong west to southwest winds to gales and reaching to strong in places, with seas rough generally, except in parts of the eastern coastal waters. ■ Strong westerly winds to gale and rough seas in the Eastern Tasman. The weather will bo squally and showery generally, with snow on parts of the highlands and hail in places, but improving gradually. Cold temperatures, with-some inland frosts. Sun (to-day), Rises, 5.6 a.m.; sets, 6.19 p.m. To-morrow. Rises, 5.4 a.m,; sets, 6.20 p.m, Moon (to-day). Rises, 4.32 a.m.; sets, 3.34 p.m. To-morrow.
