Though tho gale continued at undiminished force throughout the night, the bush fires died down, being now confined mainly to patches of heavy logs. Tho settlors aro now endeavouring to ascertain their losses. Three hundred hoggets were burned at To Kopua station, but it will be some days before the full extent of tho damage is \ ascertained.
Log fires.commenced in the Motu, dnd Malawi, districts, but were quenched by the heavy rain which fell this morning.
