FIVE TONS A DAY

LEVIN DAIRY OUTPUT SHOWS 21 PER CENT. INCREASE POR SEPTEMBER. PAYOUT Is Gd PER. LB. The effect's of a beneficial season are beginning to be felt by the Dairy Farmers of the Levin District, as shown by tho largely increased production. over that of the corresponding period of last year. This advantage is not offset by any fall in tho price of butter-fat, as the directors of the Levin Dairy Company have fixed the pay-out for September at Is Cd per lb. for finest grade, which is the same price as that of twelve months ago. The present output of the factory is 200 boxes (5 tons) per day—an increase on the September production of last year by 31.7 per cent. For the four months ended September 30th. last, the output was 273 tons, which shows an increase of 48 per cent, on tho same period of last year. A few new suppliers have been added this season, but the augmented volume of cream collected is believed to bo mainly due to tho favourable winter, the more general adoption of early calving cows, and the effects of tho top-dressing of pastures, which is becoming rupre and more popular.
