A Savage attack on Mrs. El H.'Quilliam on July 6 was admitted to-day by William Patrick Leary, who was com* mitted for sentence. : [ . Leary, who was oh probation, was employed as a domestic servant by Quit liam. Ho attacked Mrs. Quilliam apparently with a scrubbing brush, inflicting a severe wound over her eye, and a number of bruises. When Quilliam responded to a summons ho found tho furniture in disorder, and blood splashed about tho room and passage. : • A meter-reader had called at an. opportune moment. Ho opened tho door and found Mrs, Quilliam dazed and covered with blood. ■ He hoard someone leaving the house. . ‘ • Leary gave himself up to the police and told them that while' ho was talking -with Mrs. QmUißiu.lus mind wpnt completely blank. Ho struck her several, times on the head and then decamped. The Quilliam.’s, were the, best friends ho had had. • V . Leary was visibly affected during ths hearing. ■''
