Visitors welcomed at tho meeting of the Palmerston North,Rotary Club yesterday were Messrs. T. H. Horton (Mnsterton), and J. P. Oakley (Levin). A Hamilton Hospital report yesterday morning stated that ; Bishbp Cleary’s injuries though serious were not dangerous, while Father Martindalo’s were less serious. Dr. Cleary, and -Father Martindale were injured when thoir car collided with another on the CambridgeHamilton road on Sunday morning.
The Vancouver Sun of .Juno 23 reported that Mr. Robert 8011, of Christchurch, New Zealand, president of tho Press Congress of the World, was in Vancouver. Mr. Bell was going north for a visit to Alaska, and intended to visit Dawson and other parts of, the Yukon. Then ho will return to spend a considerable time in Jasper National ( Park. . 1 ■ .... 1
Tho many friends ;of Mr. Robert Edwards, of Palmerston North, will regret to hear of the death of his son, Mr. Virgil cable advice of which was received yesterday. No details’are to hand, but from tho brief cablemessage it is surmised that Mr. Edwards, who was_a surveyor, died from injuries received in an accident while carrying out .a survey in the Gain tree River district, North Queensland. Educated at the Palmerston North High School the late Mr. Edwards distinguished himself both as a scholar' arid athlete, and he was admired and respected by all who know him. Tn all forms of manly sport he was an expert, and captured a number of championships on the running track and in the swimming baths. Two years ago ho loft for Australia where ho has bec'n engaged since in different ( States surveying. The tragic suddenness of his death came as a great shock to his father, to whom tho sympathy of the community will bo extended.
