SLAV WOMAN’S PASTY SEEKING SUFFRAGE
BELGRADE. The Woman’s Party of Jugoslavia, which is composed almost entirely of Serbian women, has just celebrated its first anniversary. Both men and women participated in games, but the women insisted on leading in the folk dances. This is the ' only 1 woman’s organisation in Jugoslavia whose exclusive aim is to work for woman suffrage; Its leaders are of the opinion that until the' women of the country can vote they will not bo able to obtain their civil, social and economic rights. Generally speaking, the lot of the women in the villages of Gerbia is hard. They are much limited, a large percentage of them are illiterate and they arc usually dependent on their husbands, - fathers or brothers. Most men, especially those in the villages, would consider it preposterous to give women the vote, and the press, on the whole, pretends to be rather _amused at the Woman’s Party,. ‘ - ;
