The Guardian newspaper has gathered medical and other opinions concerning the propriety of sterilisation for degenerates on the lines of the New Zealand proposed legislation just , published here.

“Leap Into The. Mist.” t Doctor Watson Munro expresses the opinion that sterilisation is a leap into the mist. What is wanted is pre-natal care to secure healthy offspring, as injuries to, the brain often occurred at birth.-' 1 : ' ■ ■' - • Mr. Mclntosh, a solicitor, approves the New Zealand legislation. He said sterilisation should only be exercised under rigorous supervision. What New Zealand proposed to do is scientific. “Pacts Must Be Paced.” The Reverend Mr. Doran, chairman of the Congregational thinks New Zealand is acting upon sound lines. It would do New South Wales no ham to try it. Facts must bo faced.

The Reverend Mr. Grant, Presbyterian minister, states: “I don’t shudder at. what Now Zealar is doing. We should take a leaf out of their; book.’Against Religion. The Reverend Mr. Conolly, Anglican clergyman, said: “The Church clearly stands for the full value of human life and personality. Sterilisation is pagan in practice and dangerous to the social unit,” , . Another opinion is that of an unnamed Cabinet Minister, who declares that sterilisation has given no conclusive proof of success abroad and its inclusion in new laws here is extremely unlikely.
