MANAWATU HUNT
DRAG HUNT AT AOKAUTERE. The hunt at Aokautere on Saturday afternoon was high enjoyable. Quite a good field of followers turned out,, and had a real good "go” over paddocks which were in splendid order for the sport. The drag was laid by Messrs. J. Cameron, on Aintrce, and L. Oliver, on Chryssarto. Some of the obstacles were pretty substantial and there were two or three spills, but no one was in any way hurt. There was some splendid jumping, and likewise some rather otherwise. The horsemanship of little Cecil M‘ Kenzio was greatly admired, the small chap coming in for rounds of applause from the spectators, of whom there was quite a large crowd. Among those who were out were Messrs. W. Scott (deputy master) on Glad Eye; J. J. Waller (huntsman), Pawa; F. Edmonds, Moonlight, and D. Scott, Cossack (hon. whips); Mrs, E. H. Meads, Prudence; Miss Meads, Birkenose; Miss Phyllis Meads, Pippin; Miss K. Bailey, Hat’s Off; Messrs. L. H. Collinson, Bionc; J. Cameron, Aintree; S. J. Bailey, Bismore; A. Stratton, Eedbank; E. Heap, Clarence; A. Parker, Sir Frisco g.; C. Eobinson, Askari; S. M'Greal, Somes; A. Webb, Chester; L. Oliver, Chryssarto; Cecil M'Kenzic, Etsing Star; E. Perrin, Te Pai; M. E. Wood, Sunart; D. Vile, Matai; G. V. Shannon, Tcrehu; G. Stevens, Calculation; and others. At the conclusion of the hunt, followers and spectators were entertained at afternoon tea by Mcsdamcs E. E. Scott, W. Gosling, and W. Anderson. The president of the hunt, Mr. E. A. M'Kenzie, proposed a vote of thanks to those ladies, and to the property owner, which was carried with cheers, and to which Mr. Walter Scott replied on behalf of the hostesses and the property owners. Before dispersing, the company indulged in dancing to music kindly contributed by Miss Gosling. The hounds will hunt at Kairanga on Wednesday next, and at Eangitikci Line on Saturday.
