The Northern Boxing Association is showing real enterprise by endeavouring to arrange two prolessionai contests to be staged in the Auckland Town Hall on Friday, Juno 22. The programme is very ambitious, nothing liko it having been staged in Auckland before. The principal bout will be between Harry Casey, holder of the middle-weight championship of New Zealand, and Artie Bay, welterweight champion of the Dominion. The bout will be of 15 rounds for a purse of £IOO and expenses. If it can bo arranged, the middle-weight title will be at stake. The second professional bout will be between Clarrie Pocock, of Christ church, and Jim Broadfoot, of Auckland, over a distance of 10 rounds for a purse of £75 and expenses. Pocock gave Casey a hard fight over 10 rounds at Gamaru last' month, and although ho did not receive the decision, he made a great showing. He has had only one other professional fight, which was also at Gamaru. On -that occasion he defeated Dick Loveridge on points in a 10-round contest. He is [stated to bo a very promising boy with a solid punch, and it is anticipated that ho will give Broadfoot a hard fight. In addition to the two professional fights, two good amateur contests will also be staged.
