FASHIONS FOR THE FEET
Stockings are almost invariably flesh coloured, made in. a very flue weave, and with a narrow oponwork clock. Shoes are plain for dancing and . rather more decorated for reception’ and dinner wear, when brocade shoes with elaborately cut .sandal straps and paste buckles arc worn. Dance shoes are either plain court shoos or have a narrow single strap over the. Instep—quite without, decoration or’ buckle; These shoes arc - worn (to set the materials in order of popularity) in blonde satin, iu dull silvered kid, or in satin dyed a deeper shade than that used for. the frock. Sometimes these coloured shoes are very pretty—a girl, for example, seen recently iu a draped frock of hcavy whito satin with a green shoulder flower and jade green slippers looked very well. Coloured stockings, on the
contrary, arc seldom successful. At dancer, women appear to be less encumbered with vanity cases and oddments than they were, and usually they have only a small envelope purso .of "old brocade to carry.
