CANTERBURY HAS ITS GRAVE DOUBTS
OF WISDOM OF DEPARTMENT All ACTION, N TRANSFERING SENIOR OFFICERS TO PALMERSTON. ■■‘ , ■ Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, Last Night. A protest was made at a meeting of the North Canterbury Farmers’ Union to-day against the action of Agricultural Department in transfering two of its senior officers, Messrs J. W. Hadfield and A. W. Hudson, from Christchurch to Palmerston North, in spite of assurance of the Director-General of Agriculture that these officers would continue to initiate and supervise research work in Canterbury. Members expressed grave doubts as to whether the officers would in fact do very much at Palmerston North to help agriculture in Canterbury. It was eventually resolved that the President and Secretary be a committee with power to add, and that they inquire into the contemplated removal of Messrs Hadfield and Hudson to Palmerston North, and make an appropriate protest.
